An emotional album that displays the perspective of a teenage girl living in the modern world. As a very impressive debut album, it includes specific and clever lyrics, beautiful vocal talent from Olivia, and songs that are very cohesive with each other, although being very different.
The album opens with the track, "Brutal", which is an upbeat-sounding, rocky song about the hardships of being a teenager. I think that this is the perfect opener for the album because right from the start, it displays the grit and emotion that this entire album has to offer.
Secondly is the song, "Traitor", about heartbreak and betrayal from Olivia's former partner. The song is both very honest and smart lyrically. It also includes a display of Olivia's magnifecent vocal range.
Third is "Drivers License", the most popular breakup anthem off the album. The lyrical content includes specific references to cars (due to the theme of Olivia getting her drivers license) and reminiscing her love for her ex-partner. The song is a saddening and sincere display of her strong emotions that she feels after her breakup.
Fourth is the song "1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back", about the ups and downs of an unstable relationship. The song has a catchy piano chord progression and Olivia perfectly describes her confusion with her current partner (at the time) in the lyrics. Even though this isn't my favorite song off the album, it's still a good song and is worth listening to.
Fifth is "Deja Vu". This song is, in my opinion, a generally perfect song off the album. The song has very specific, descriptive lyrics that paint a picture about how often interests and hobbies in relationships are recycled. There's a very funky guitar instrumental and a cute xylophone intro that opens up the track.
Sixth is "Good 4 U", a pop rock anthem about Olivia's ex-partner moving on to another relationship. Lyrically, the whole song is very sassy and angry and shows a perfect amount of emotional charm.
Seventh is the song, "Enough for You", which is my personal favorite and is the most heartbreaking song off the album, due to its meloncholy guitar and tear-jerking lyrics that can cause you to easily empathize with Olivia.
Eighth is "Happier", another really poignant song off the album. The song is about Olivia feeling forgotten and like she isn't as breathtaking as her ex-partner's new girlfriend. The lyrics contain a pitiful sense of jealousy that Olivia feels.
Nineth is "Jealousy, Jealousy", a song about how social media makes Olivia feel envious of random people she sees online. She sings that these girls have "paper white teeth" and "cool vintage clothes" that she wishes she had. The bridge is my favorite part and is very catchy.
Tenth is "Favorite Crime", the most lyrically strong song on the entire album about sacrifices Olivia made for her partner. The verses incorporate very witty lyrics that associate with the general crime theme.
The eleventh and final song of the album is "Hope Ur Ok". The illustrative lyrics and optimistic nature of the song definitely make it an appropriate closing track for the album.
Generally, the album is a very honest and descriptive experience, which is why I give it a 5/5 :)
