Dark Shadows was a gothic, horror soap opera and there was no comedy in the drama. Barnabas Collins was a vampire in the drama not a cartoon character. By the late 1960’s Dark Shadows was
ABC’s most popular soap opera and the drama did not make it to that status with Jonathan Frid acting like a character from LooneyTunes.
