The show took its time to get the thesis, which is not so much about getting the bad guy than it is about systemic injustices and racism that make it a challenge to work in institutions like law enforcement, at least if you've got a conscience.
The first episode was really compelling, but by the end of the last episode I wanted it to be over. It's tries to tie too many storylines together with too many characters, who could be compelling but there's no space for most of them to get there, despite some pretty good acting.
It reveals a lot about the pressures within the system which impede justice. Young officers especially, who start out with the best of intentions, learn the perils of crossing that blue line and easily get caught up inevitable police corruption.
Can't believe some of the comments on here calling for "four white guys" to be the lead characters again because it's more realistic and they have the most merit. yikes! It seems really offensive for some to have a white lesbian as the lead investigator, but from my experience in policing, this is realistic profile.
