If you are a straightforward thinker and want someone to get to the point, this is NOT the book for you.
The entirety of the 119 page book can be summarized into a couple of words; don’t think/dwell on your thoughts. That’s it. Depressed? Anxious? Simply turn off your brain and stop it from one of its main functions: thinking! How easy… why haven’t we all thought of that?
But seriously… it is helpful to acknowledge that our thoughts can’t be controlled but how we respond to them can. This acknowledgment can change a lot about how we act as a whole. But to write over a hundred pages about how simply not reacting to/dwelling on our thoughts is basically a cure-all feels like a bit of a scam. Feels like it was written by someone who very clearly didn’t have actual anxiety or depression, just temporary feelings on anxiousness or sadness. Not very helpful in actually changing your mindset when the solution is to basically just turn it off completely because, once again, if it was that easy I think we all would have done that by now.
