I love Laura Coates and think she is the best newsperson on TV. I feel she is always well informed and has intelligent quetions and responses.I have never been disappointed except once, a few weeks ago. She had a female commentator on the show that said we should reopen the Keystone pipeline. This is a BIG OIL propaganda line, aimed at making voters believe we have need to drill for more oil. I was disappointed that Laura did not correct her false information.The Keystone pipeline, built in 2010 and flowing with oil from Alberta CA south to Houston TX, has never been shut down except a year or two ago while they repaired a massive leak for which our Army Corp of Engineers had to build a levee around it. The guest likely did not know the facts but apparently neither did Laura. She most likely meant the Keystone XL pipeline, that was PROPOSED to run from the same point in Alberta CA, south to the point in the existing Keystone pipeline to fill it full after the Keystone pipeline has a leg-off sending some of its oil to Illinois. Once the oil companies got Congress to allow them to EXPORT our oil in Dec 2015 for the first time since the mid-70s, they wanted to get as much oil as possible to Houston for EXPORT. Hence the desire to refill the existing Keystone pipeline at the point in the Midwest after it sends a good portion of it's oil east to Illinois. This new pipeline needed a permit issued by the US State Dept to cross the border from Canada. After a SEVEN Year research, our US State Dept.determined there was NO BENEFIT to the USA to allow this pipeline to go through. It would carry dirty tar sands oil full of cadmium, lead, mercury and other pollutants and is so heavy it does not float like our sweet and sour oil, but SINKS. Tar sands oil is so thick it will not flow thru a pipeline and they add a highly POISONOUS liquid to it to get it to flow thru the pipeine. The PROPOSED Keystone XL pipeline would have crossed waterways responsible for irrigatng 30% of America's farmland. Imagine if they had to irrigate our food and water our cattle with this poisoned water! But even though the US State Dept refused to issue the permit, Trump ordered it to be issued. Thank goodness Biden rescinded the permit as soon as he took office. None of that oil was for our use...it was for EXPORT. The pipeline was not closed as it was never built, only 8% built at that time. We are producing more oil in the USA now than in any time in our HISTORY! We also EXPORT MORE oil than we import, plus, the Biden admin. has approved the building of the TWO LARGEST OIL EXPORTING platforms in the WORLD to be built off of TX. And there are more planned.We are swimming in oil here, and if we never drilled another well in your lifetime we could not run out of oil. So PLEASE Laura, don't let anyone get away with the FALSE line that we need to reopen a pipeline that never existed.
