I’m trying to be kind to this game as I understand it’s not a big budget production and you have to temper your expectations. For what it is and what it cost, it’s decent enough. But the novelty of it wears thin after a while. You can honk at people, and their reactions are quite funny at first, but it gets old when you’ve seen it for the umpteenth time. It’s odd how there are loads of items lying around the various environments, and some of them you can interact with (and, admittedly, a couple of them are really funny) but most are just there for the sake of the game environment. You can pick up a tennis ball. Have fun with that for a minute or two. The reason I mention this is because of the time I spent wondering “Can I do anything with this?” or “Does this do something?”
In terms of objectives, some are extremely easy. Some require a bit of tactical manoeuvring. Some are just flat out infuriating. I’m on the verge of giving up over one objective even though I’m so close to the end. I know what to do, I know how it’s supposed to happen, but making it happen is taking a serious toll on how much fun I’m having. I need the game to work with me on this one. It’s also one of those objectives, and there are a few whereas others allow for variation, where there’s only one way of doing it.
The controls can be a bit fiddly too. Some of the objects lying around can be used as distractions, but only if you’re quick enough to take advantage but also not too quick that you’re hitting every obstacle in your way or getting stuck and slowing yourself down.
It’s worth the hype for what it is, but that’s probably the most glowing assessment I can give it.
