We all miss Freelancer, a masterpiece of story and dogfighting. Nowadays, if you want story with slight dogfighting, play Starfield. If you want dogfights with slight story, play Everspace. Ideally, play both at the same time to scratch both itches. Control in Everspace is difficult at the start, but it becomes easy like breathing after a few days. Frustration turns into elation as you become one with the craft and surroundings.
Pros: After empty space and useless ship upgrades in Starfield… its refreshing to have a game where you can effortlessly seek dogfights repeatedly and slowly upgrade 50+ different types of armaments.
Cons: dont expect much in way of story. It was an indie kickstarter so the story is minimal, although for what it is, I found the story well premised. It also takes about 2 days to get used to the sensitive flight controls, after which it becomes second nature.
Nostalgia: Combat itself is every bit as good as Freelancer, in my opinion I think Everspace combat is better. With insane devices like Tactical Cloaking, Spacetime Modification and Teleportation? Count me in.
