I’m a hard person to please and didn’t expect much, but I thoroughly enjoyed the acting, plot, characters, climax, ending, surprise factor and the ‘supernatural’ nature of Don’t Let Go. It’s a smart movie and despite intellectual prowess, it’s difficult to foresee the ending, which really made for a stimulating film. I would purchase or pay to see this one again, for sure! It wasn’t the best film I’ve ever seen in my life, but many movies fall under that category; however, a lot of non-black movies with a lot less interesting writing, acting and plots still seem to get higher rankings on Rotten Tomatoes. Seems like rotten tomatoes doesn’t care much for films where black actors are featured in the show. Maybe most Americans aren’t embracing these types of shows, and therefore Rotten Tomatoes rankings are just reflective of that speculation.
I believe the film had just the right level of drama, suspense, and action and was well thought out. I also believe that when these rankings come out, it impacts a person’s decision about paying to see the movie so the movie gets less advertisement and fewer people come to see it. I know that happens because I’ve not gone to movies purely because it got a low ranking on rotten tomatoes. Although I’ve questioned rotten tomatoes rankings before, after seeing this movie, there’s 100% NO WAY I’m going by rotten tomatoes rankings any more.
I do wonder how all the supernatural stuff happened, but that’s one of the interesting elements of the film that leaves you still thinking about it long after you’ve left. Better yet, maybe there’s a sequel around the bend. Go see this movie before it’s gone. You won’t regret it; it’s certainly very entertaining!
