In the 1997 film “Life is Beautiful” an Italian film made by and directed by Roberto Remigio Benigni, Is a film that really pulls at your heart strings making you care for its animated main character and his family. This film makes me feel both disappointed and disgusted at what humanity is capable of, but also leads me to believe that we have a bright future through the characters actions. The way they show Italy adopting antisemitism in the late 1930’s and the idea becoming more prevalent gave a disturbing under tone to the first act that really hit hard when entering the end of the second act.
Would I recommend this movie. Absolutely, you really get a feel for the characters and care for them for the entirety of the film. The cinematography does its job as its not really anything revolutionary, but maybe my eyes are spoiled by modern day films with their special visuals and color corrections as well as crazy angles. The set design is really good and makes you feel like your really in the times, there was only one set that I didn't enjoy but one ugly set doesn't mean anything in my eyes.
