Was it beautifully filmed and had all the makings of a masterpiece? Yes. Was it about 1 hour too long and not enough insight into certain characters? Absolutely. And the whole FBI investigation was just wedged in. Yes the acting performances were phenomenal especially that of Mollie. But the story could have been better explained because sadly, I doubt most people are aware of yet another American atrocity against its own. I kept begging for it to just be over because it was entirely too long and slow.

I guess I am on the fence. The book was great. If I had seen the show and not read the book, maybe I’d be able to rate the show on its own merit. But it IS based on the book and so much was changed, I guess to have broader appeal? I argue that the book has been a bestseller for over a year so who is the broader appeal Apple sought? I will watch the rest of the show but I feel like Apple changed things to tick the boxes. Why?

Let’s hope S2 will be just as good. Sirius Black never ceases to amaze. Yes I know it’s Gary Oldman but most probably recognize the name Sirius Black more easily. Love the supporting cast as well but Oldman steals the show. If you’ve read the books, you’ll see the show is pretty much word for word from the books and that’s a good thing. The books were so well written, the show does not need to take liberties to make them any better. S2 also has started off a little slow but is amping it up. This is a don’t miss series.

Bite sized snippets of insight. I can appreciate some of what she has to say but it seems like the “keys” about each chapter were written for a Twitter world…as though people are unable to read full in depth paragraphs. Also, I’m sorry for all that she went through and do agree with a lot of the “we as women are taught what to expect, how to act, think, feel”. But, burning a decent life to the ground is easy when you have a cushion like Abby Wambach to fall back on. Right now, I’m questioning tons of things because I did all the right things and my marriage is still an empty shell of loneliness. And that’s a bit of a lie, it takes 2 to tango. But, I would be terrified to burn my life to the ground and walk away even if it is the best thing. And I do not have the cushion or support of an “Abby”.
