I think Dolores Claiborn is an absolute Masterpiece of film! It is deeply moving, well written, directed and the cast was stellar. I think this is Kathy Bates and Jennifer Jason Leigh's (such a talented, underrated acress) best work, absolutely.
Special note on the brilliant cinematography as well. Present day is at first filmed in a blue, eerie tint while the past is shown clearly. As the story progresses, it changes to the past being a blue tint to the present finally clear. All done very subtly. It adds SO much to the film.
Justly, this film is in my top 5.
Agreed, an amazing performance by Kathy Bates, just superb.
This film sorely missed out on Oscar nominations by far.

Film noir at it's best, wonderful cinematography.
Well acted with the inclusion of the fabulous character actor M. Emmet Walsh. His many smarmy remarks are remembered long after the film ends.

Awful representation of the groups!
They blew through the terrier group in 10 minutes!!
Very bad for people who don't know any better that in each of the 7 groups there are many, many dogs.
Poorly edited for tv.
