La Callas was a mega talented woman with a strong, unique, and captivating personality. I watched this movie wishing for a depiction of her incredible life story and creative process. Instead, this movie just insisted, for 2 hours, in showing a boring, sad, pathetic woman moping around in darkness. We get that she was ill physically and mentally, there was no need to repeat it over, and over, and over again. The glimpses of her past that was shown does not do any justice to what she was and what she gave the world. It would be okay to show this as her end of life suffering, but to reduce the great Maria Callas to this dullness is a betrayal of her memory!! This movie felt like an attempt at art that came out very pretentious and disrespectful. If you didn't know who she was, the last few minutes of the movie where Callas' actual footages was shown would surprise you with how different she was from the woman this movie tried to portray her as.
