This book is a long hard slog through Cromwell’s final years and inevitable downfall. The title refers to Cromwell’s term for King Henry VIII. Mirrors and their reflections are frequent symbols. I was struck by several parallels, though not in intelligence, between Henry in his declining despotic years and our current President.
