I dont think this adaptation would last long because they skipped over some major character development and outright deleted some important characters. The casts don’t seem to have read one piece at all. I.e. garp was supposed to have more dilemma over luffy, his expression upon finding out luffy’s debut was off and wasn’t portrayed as the tough love kinda guy, rather just heartless. Sanji is way too nice here and smiles too much, he was supposed to only be smiling towards girls and should have a more “lowkey like you but i wanna maintain my persona” kinda feel towards the male characters, and he’s not a heavy smoker for some reason, although that was part of his charm in the anime. Hatchan was deleted for some reason, idk how they are going to do a later story that involves hatchan in the fishmen arc. The bloody scenes were heavily censored, which removes the “desperation and urgency feel” of some scene due to removed context. Luffy’s dialogues lacks the luffiness if u know what i mean, he’s portrayed too “smart” and not goofy enough. Luffy was supposed to be caring but carefree, this adaptation was outright just oblivious. Usopp is lacking the charm, he’s not JUST a scaredy cat who lies and make jokes, he’s supposed to care more about merry. On the plus side, zeff, mihawk and zoro was done justice. Almost 1:1 character mapping. Nami was wavering, sometimes really portrays the original nami, sometimes the emotional motive seems abit off. Basically watching this feels like the casts and director only watch/read one piece on the need to know basis, they don’t get the emotion behind their characters.
