The concept intrigued me and the cast convinced me to hit play. However, I'm deeply disappointed in the missed opportunity the writers had with this concept.
Even if I look past the unrealistic freedom they have around (or over) the police, the almost loveable character flaws rather than the raw and destructive traits one might pickup after that kind of trauma and the overplayed.. neigh over exaggerated female powerhouse, that only exists in the day dreams of women who get to edit out the power of a man with a bat or the rhetorical of an inner city police captain during a press conference - the lack of loss is becoming a deal breaker for me.
We are 8 of 8 in and NOT ONCE have they failed to find their "missing." Don't get me wrong; in a perfect world, everyone would be found. Of course we all want that... but they made it clear from the start and from the plot we are not watching a Disney perfect world so they need to let that realism bleed into every aspect. That includes the outcome of their cases.
Let the son not get to speak his truth before cancer takes his Mom. Let the mother bleed out in the woods and find a bitter sweet end in the baby being the handed to his grandmother. Just simply showcase that they help a lot but lose a little.
I will stick with the show in hopes that they introduce some real depth but as it stands - it's simply the fantasy of a survivor who cannot imagine a world without what they went through so they imagine a world where happy endings are abundant and they only ever come out the victor.
