Look, it was kinda enjoyable, but definitely not worth $175pp when on the arena floor and you can only see the heads of the actors when they stand up! Qudos was definitely not the right venue - I get you want a big space to make extra ticket sales, but something more scaled back like enmore theatre would be better suited. This isn’t deserving of an arena show.
I’d pay at most $75 for decent seats to this.
The singing for the most part was good, however the lead girl was way too high pitched.
The acting and dialogue was so damn cringe, I felt like I was rewatching the Star Wars prequels! The dialogue and plot is probably more to blame than the cast, but you can definitely tell they cast prioritising singing and dancing, and the rest could just be winged. Many moments where I felt I was at a high school musical and not a professional production.
10/10 to the woman who played the mum though, she was outstanding.
