A heartfelt sentiment to the victims throughout WW2, but I truly don't understand the message of the movie. As a devout Catholic myself, I can't help but feel this movie conveyed a very wrong message. Throughout the movie, we follow one of the protagonists which is a nun, who finds herself conflicted with her faith as she falls into despair with the horrors of the time. This is accompanied by the fact that the head-nun is completely bitter and hostile towards her when she discovers she's having relations with a cop. This is where I get confused, because as a Catholic, we're supposed to be merciful, not to condemn one another. No human being is perfect, not a nun, or even the pope, so this leaves me confused as to what the movie is trying to accomplish by incorporating the faith in this way.
