I've never served, but all of my adolescent life, I wanted to join. No politics included in this post, as none are relevant. War is war. I watched this movie with one other in the theatre on a Thursday afternoon. Neither of us moved until the end credits had completed. It's just that impactful. I could speculate why for the other patron, but I can tell you why for myself. This is without a doubt the best and worst war movie that I have ever seen. Much like Black Hawk Down (a personal favourite), it immerses you in the action and you feel just as under attack whilst sitting watching the movie. The way I described this movie to my wife immediately after viewing was; "That was incredible, but I'm completely traumatised from it. Was like Black Hawk Down but without any of the Hollywood stuff. Felt like you were there. Another guy came in just before it started, and neither of us moved until the credits had finished" And I have nothing more to say than that. Anyone who has served will find this a very difficult watch, anyone that has wanted to serve will too. This is without a doubt the most impactful movie depicting war in a modern theatre that I have ever seen. You don't know names, you don't know back stories. These are your brothers as much as the character on screen. If there is something that could be used more in movies, is that realism is the real, you don't need to add to it to make a story. Absolutely phenomenal
