I am happy to see I am not the only one who was not crazy about this book, like so many are. I struggled a great deal to read this because of its constant repetitive theme and over description of everything. Sad tale but yes, a bit far fetched. I am now struggling to decide whether to finish it. I think I’ll call it a day and return to the library. And I totally agree that many of the injuries that occurred in this book without proper medical care would have resulted in death.
