I am a Hindu, but being a staunch Iindian.., more secular than hindu. The film Silence henced posed one question to me.. If the gospels thought that God was found within one self then why would the film maker try to pose the question of clinging to the crucifix as the sign of faith or a trample as renunciation? The book wasn't that keen to use such symbolism. A master piece in the genre of cinematographic techniques, I still feel the film would feel an over emphisization of a blind faith to the secular mind.
