I have loved this show since I first saw it in 1973. This remake is absolutely fantastic as a stage show and preferable to the movie set.
John Legend played the lead to the hilt as well, if not better than Ted Neeley, and casting Alice Cooper as Herod was GENIUS.
Sara Bareilles was a belivable Mary Magdalene as was Brandon Dixon as Judas Iscariot, surpassing Carl Anderson's brilliant portrayal.
For today's Christian zealots, this adaptation of the events of Holy Week may come across as irreverent, not true to every word of the Gospels, but the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and the story from the alternate perspective of Judas, has brought the story to life and to a new generation.
