At times I was confused and had to turn back to beginning, as it's a psychological thriller....begins in Germany during Hitler regime where the young girl experiences the carnage of war.....continues in the streets of New York where poverty is the norm and a love story begins with a young German girl and a charasmatic Jewish boy. A must read.
