I must be from another planet or very hard to please because I just don't understand all the plaudits this book has received. I am an avid reader so I think my opinion counts for something, but this was an incredibly hard read. I'm no spring chicken myself so it wasn't because the characters are elderly, it was just boring, not well written, although the murder story was inventive, there was just too much unnecessary background to the characters which didn't help understand them, if that was its purpose. I didn't find any of the characters interesting or sympathetic. One big yawn, sorry, not sorry, Richard.
