I was so hopeful of an uplifting ending - is there some kind of taboo in film-making against bringing about creative solutions whereby life embarks upon a new and enlightened course? For instance, if Eun-Yi had taken the money, had the child and brought along the forlorn head servant, maybe even as a godmother to the new baby... boring I suppose, judging by what too many people these days want to see... What positive purpose did this ending serve to anyone? It turned a beautifully acted film to junk. Three stars for movie, Five for the cast.
