I am a fan of Stallone and Statham, so I try to give some, let's say allowances to certain things and just enjoy the movies for what they are. With that being said, I don't feel like this earned the hype it was given.
What made these movies fun was the action, the comedic banter, and the surprise cameos from other legendary action stars of the past. It felt like a weekly (To Be Continued) serial, where you had to tune in so you could catch who was going to join the team this go around.
This movie had no cameos. I'm not saying it didn't have a couple "decent" named stars in this, but there weren't any surprises in here. Very little returning cast as well.
The "surprise" twists that happened in this movie were very predictable.
The action sequences felt generic like they were for a D-list action movie and not with the stars who were in this 1. The comedic banter felt phoned in. Given the lackluster track record of Stallone's movies lately, this isn't surprising to me.
I mean, I get that they are getting old, but some things are just better not being made anymore. I would say go into this with low expectations and you won't be disappointed. I don't regret purchasing this movie, but I could have skipped it and have been fine about it, given what I know now about this movie.
I would say, rent it.. It's not horrible.. but it's not great either.
