Second best to Code Geass, which itself is an anime masterpiece. The series picks off nicely and gets only better and better with each episode until finally the most unfortunate thing happens (I won't reveal for the sake of those who haven't yet watched the show). Hereon, it maintains its tempo for while but then collapses as it approaches the climax. The climax is a memorable one though. That moment and those expressions on Light Yagami's face, I can never forget.
