Shamillia Sivathambu

I am struggling to understand why this book has had such great reviews. It reads like it's written by a student, the observations are literal, obvious and lack any depth. I gave it a good go, thinking it would get better and the characters would eventually form as the book progressed, sadly it never did. I had to call it quits when she started likening people to ping ping balls bouncing into / off each other. Apart from it being poorly written, I found the protagonist to be extremely annoying. At one point she observed and labeled a lady who drank four glasses of wine with her dinner as she sat quietly opposite her husband, a lonely alcoholic. The author didn't even bother to feign mystery or rumination. How some people get book deals I will never know. Waste of my time.
