I've invested more than 200 hours into Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and Skyrim (with just 65 hours in Fallout 4, which also left me unimpressed). Bethesda's latest release, "StarField," has been a significant letdown for me. To begin, the storyline and lore lack depth and memorability. As an RPG, it fails to provide immersion and character development, missing out on unique character growth. Traditional Bethesda features like stealth and lockpicking are incomplete and unviable in Starfield.
One of my primary frustrations lies with Starfield's local maps, which are subpar. Navigating using quest markers on the Starfield map is both frustrating and challenging. These quest markers are unreliable, frequently failing to indicate all the necessary points on the map or screen. These fundamental issues contribute to a frustrating gaming experience.
I also find that Starfield's planets and cities represent missed opportunities. Despite being set in the year 2330, there are only four major cities to explore among the 1,000+ planets. Most planets and dungeons feature repetitive layouts, making the task of surveying planets monotonous. Scanning the same resources on each planet lacks excitement and entertainment value.
These are just some of the key reasons why I'm not enjoying this game. It's riddled with technical glitches and lacks the depth and narrative engagement that I expected. While it promises a vast and open universe, the gameplay often feels repetitive and uninspiring.
