This game, Great. Amazing. I love it, but its an aquired taste. you need to spend a lot of time to even start liking the game. when you begin the controls are difficult and the game confusing. It's difficult to learn but it pays off, you end up enjoying your time no matter how chaotic the game turns out to be. each game feels fresh and new and there's always space to learn something new. and it gets updated often, too. there's tons of servers and experiences to be had... no matter what your looking for. overall, I've only played two servers.
Goonstation: Simple, has a nice charm to it and has cool secrets. different but charming graphics.
TGstation: Lots of content, and servers. not found on the hub and can be connected to directly on their website.
Both are pretty great, overall. depends on what your looking for. I feel it's better to begin on goonstation to get the gist of the main mechanics of space station 13. TG and goonstation have different controls, though. that's something you will need to learn if you ever transfer over.
Anyways, The game is mainly about doing your job that you chose on a space station while surviving threats or random events. of course, you have a chance to be the threat once in a while. you get the chance to destroy the station yourself if you leave it on. It depends if you want an action packed playstyle of destroying the station, or just doing your job there. You can be a miner, an engineer, a doctor, scientist, botanist, and much more. the game is really what you make of it. if you aren't enjoying it, try a different playstyle or server. otherwise, maybe It's chaotic and complicated playstyle isn't for you. It could be too much to handle.
But, if you try it, just for at least 10 rounds, I promise you will enjoy it. find what you enjoy in the game and do that. from there, learn more mechanics and try to master the game. if that's even possible.. I wouldn't know because I definitely haven't gotten close over my 1700~ hours
honestly, this game really changes your brain if you play it for as long as I have. it challenges your muscle memory to perfect everything. the point I'm trying to make is that this game takes a lot of effort to play without quitting the game shortly after simply because of how complicated it is. to become a dedicated player in this game you need to put a lot of effort to learn it for not a lot in return until you finally perfect your skills and learn your favorite role or server. Just try it, spend some time. maybe you'll like it maybe you won't, I dunno. But it's a great game.
