I loved the movie but was disturbed that the producers/director chose to make Jo’s love interest a handsome young man. In the book, Professer Bauer was an older man, and Jo went through an internal struggle about how her family would feel about this. I find it ironic that this movie works so hard to put a modern “inclusive” spin on the events of the book, but then apparently gives in to ageism. Are we no longer able as a society to tolerate a younger woman falling in live with an older man?
