Dark, with some wit, but an uninspiring tale of tragedy. The characters are well acted and the cinematography excellent, but the story drags in the first hour and depresses thereafter. Some of the accents rove around, and the Irish Civil War was bad enough without a brooding commentary on the same. Not one for my Christmas stocking.
