Incredibly stereotypical and casually racist themes mar the story and performances, rendering any humor shallow and tasteless. Thin story line is carried by Martin’s hapless divorcee and Latifah's stereotypically “hood” trope looking to clear her name after serving a 12 year prison sentence. The chemistry between the two is contrived and very one-sided.
