If you like fantasy but don't really know much about Witcher lore, then by all means give this a try, I feel like this show is for you. If you've only seen and enjoyed The Witcher Netflix show, this show is for you. It's not a bad standalone fantasy prequel and it does fit in with Netflix's established Witcher world.
If you are a fan of the books and video games, I would recommend steering clear. This series is clearly created for generic appeal and runs into many of the same pitfalls that the Netflix Witcher series does, in that it throws out the source material in favour of spectacle. It is rushed in pacing and cliched in trope in order to create an ensemble cast of very little actual consequence and/or relevance. Character and story development is replaced by unexplained and unexpected voiceover in order to save the shreds of story from becoming impossible to piece together due to editing cuts. And the Slavic mythology that The Witcher is based on? This show has clearly never heard of it. Feels like the showrunners are really clawing for scraps to make a quick buck.
But if you separate Netflix's Witcher universe from the Sapkowski Witcher universe and interpret Netflix as being inspired by rather than adapting from the books and games? Then it might be worth a watch.
