She paints an easy-to-follow story with clear pictures of the Donner party wagon train's journey. If you're looking for a horror story wrapped in the history of traveling west in covered wagon, this is the read for you. I would have rated it 5 stars, however I felt the ending was a bit rushed. Still, a worthwhile read! I would read again.
