I know there’s mixed reviews on this, especially regarding AB’s version of Elvis, but I for one thought he was perfect. The movie was entrancing, dazzling, and tragic all at the same time. It bordered on that edge of strange and comical at times, but Austin’s OUTSTANDING portrayal of E. P. pulled me back every. Single. Time. It showed you his life in a truthful light while still remaining just the right amount of reverent.
While watching this I went through the stages of obsessed fangirl when E.P. was in his heartthrob days, sad mother while he was away in the military, jealous girlfriend when the crowds roars kept him under their spell, and lastly…a mourner of the legend washed away by exhaustion and exploitation.
