My biggest issue with the series is the lack of set ups and pay offs. There’s not a reason for me to care about it. There is context for their mission, but zero exigence. Why are these children so determined to risk their lives? They also are never in any real danger. The matter is resolved without a lot of friction. I genuinely prefer the movie adaptation, even though it strayed from the books. At the very least, it was an adaptation that told a story. This series has failed to do that completely.

I would get angry at myself when I didn't have time to keep watching this show. I don't even need to write why its good. Just just give it a watch.
