When comparing goals for electric cars in Europe the distances should also be taken into consideration. Perhaps those of you who live in the confines of the city should consider that once you go outside the city limits into the rural area the support requirements for an electric car are quite different. One other consideration that is never stated is the explosive power of batteries if incorrectly maintained and how much the voltages of most batteries deteriorate over time. For example a water/iron battery doesn't ever fade in voltage, where most others do, or have contaminated components to dispose of (not cheap) but it is the size of a semi trailer. Would be a good back up for solar farms though. The explosive power of a battery from a powered drill is larger than most people realise. The worlds largest battery in south australia would make a significant crater if it went off.
