Terrific movie, that doesn’t pretend to be more than it is. Subtle, deft performances by Thompson, Rickman and the rest of the ensemble cast. Some large comic moments, some small comic touches, the movie will make you laugh, and feel wistful. Not an easy balance, and yet seen over and over. This movie will make you feel warm, loved and in love. That’s enough in itself to set aside a couple of hours and feel happier having done it. I’ve seen it several times since 2003. Always enjoy it. You should watch it.
