I don't honestly understand the poor reviews. I found the film to be a delightful escape. I think the critics naturally have a disdain for the sci-fi genre in general. I found the idea to be imaginative - definitely not the typical view of a dystopian future in terms of its mechanism. Yes, there are shadows of other sci-fi- tropes and the plot is familiar in that everyone is vying for power in a post-war apocalyptic realm, but I don't find that idea unrealistic or dissatisfying. It's the method in this film that to me is fascinating. Cinematography is quite incredible as well. The acting is good, the dialogue isn't overly campy and the characters I found to be interesting. This is honestly one of the better sci-fi flicks I have seen in recent years. Two thumbs up.
