The game follows the same path as Empire, Napoleon etc. Factions are admittedly less silly than prior games but lmao still silly factions from the way they look to the way they sound along with great unnecessary changes and additions to the game. The graphics are lame even for a 'newer' game Rome1 and MedII more so seems better and more realistic in the end. I personally do not like the newer games. Rome Total War eats Rome II alive and asks for seconds. I mean come on lmao who's bright idea was it to have to literally micromanage telling your troops to raise their shields and put it back down when they more or less did it automatically in Rome 1 and MedII? And just to add I kinda agree with the guy who reviewed right before me. While I won't go as extreme as he did. Nonetheless. The community as a whole is so racist it would make the deceased Fuhrer blush. But that is the fan base. The question is why CA seems fine with the portrayal of Africans and Asians and Iranians? Lol Carthage being filled with European looking peoples as opposed to African majority and African led as Phoenicians by this point completely assimilated into the indigenous African populace is like saying the freaking Pannonians are Black. Attila does not look like an Asian steppe nomad he looks European where even the Romans AND Greeks stated without a doubt the man and his Huns are ASIANS and the warriors forced to fight for them were Europeans. Heck the Chinese have even noted they're descendants of the Xiong Nu and Xiong Be equally ruthless nomads from EAST ASIA. Pharaoh not much better. Lol most of the Africans don't look African and have a odd tan that no one in Africa has let alone the diaspora. And having Iranian infantry more or less being the weakest troops in the game since Rome 1 is racist and insulting and unhistorical as the Parthian and Sassanid infantry were more than capable taking on the legions and phalanx especially if they force either to fight out in the open or force them to basically get into a brawl where individual skill often wins out over armor and formations. To have them in game so weak is silly and racist. Even today lmao good luck just pushing around some Iranian infantrymen. Lol come on the Pharaohs, Carthage, Jesus and Israelites lol all these people are never portrayed how they actually look in the media and CA no different. Soooo many missed opportunities too to make this game better looks wise than Rome 1. Instead doubles down and even regresses. The eye candy graphics makes everything look fake. The Ai is some how dumber. The game is more restrictive (I remember in Rome1 you could make uneven teams among other things). And many factions don't even look the way they should look. Heck might not be historical but itleast the Pharaonic faction in Rome 1 itleast had the right complexion. You guys do know that the Greeks and Macedonians (and Romans) never mixed much with the locals and the locals ALWAYS outnumbered them and never as a whole was fine with being ruled by a foreign people often viewed as inferior barbarians....right? Hope next Total War game you guys do better with the graphics and portrayals. Lmao what's next? Mother Russia Total War featuring Black Slavic beserkers? Zimbabwe Total War lol Europeans founding the Great Zimbabwe as many racist 'experts' claimed? I'm joking around largely cuz of the previous reviewer but where's the lie? I'd give the game itleast 3 stars if it wasn't for the eye candy graphics and stupid controls ignoring portrayals and all lol :p
