If you were a fan of Dan Fogelberg, this performance at Carnegie Hall that took place in 1979 is a must have. This is not your typical live concert. There were no background vocals and no band. This is Dan Fogelberg, performing 100% of the vocals and instrumentals. In addition to the music, you get to hear Dan chat with the audience at times, taking shots at Richard Nixon among others, but also not afraid to make fun of himself.
The music is incredible. If you didn’t appreciate just how talented Dan was both as a vocalist and a musician, you will after hearing this. His opening rendition of “Netherlands”, an incredibly difficult song to perform is flawless. My personal favorite, “Stars” is sung with emotion and is beautiful. His first single, “To The Morning” is so much better here than the version he recorded with a full assortment of background vocals and instrumentals.
Dan performed this just before he released his double album “The Innocent Age” so his performance of “Same Old Lang Syne” was new to the audience. It too seems so much better here without the background musicians.
I loved Dan. His music brings back memories from my life every time I hear him. If you loved him as much as I did, please buy this album. You will not be sorry,
