90% of these reviews are from people who have either never read the books or are expecting some fantasy battle bonanza. One commentor compared it to LOTR which he also apparently hated and another couldn't quite grasp the character development, he pinpointed the scene with Lord Boreal in the lift. This character is a very significant character in the books. Awfully sorry that you found certain scenes or background building boring, fortunately for you there is a whole fan base that have actually read the books and enjoyed them. The adaptation isn't perfect, there are huge gaps that would do better to be filled in to allow for those that haven't read the books a bit more narrative, however on the whole it's pretty good at honouring the original books.
