I hate the book. Its the worst book of Amish sir. I loved Shiva trilogy , loved the other three books of Ramchandra series however this is a big let down . I will explain in points why I hate the book so much 1. The character of Lord Hanuman : I just hated his portrayal . He is reduced to a secondary character with no real impact on his own. The unnecessary love angle between Sursa and lord Hanuman was annoying and frustrating.(I wanted to throw the book away while reading these parts) 2. Too much detail . Even things like biryani, idli and a wheat field were described in paragraphs making the story super slow and boring. 3. The character development of Raavan. He is made to look like an unsung hero with a tragic love story. He is willing to be killed and willing to get his entire army destroyed for the greater good. This arc reduces the impact of lord Ram’s victory over him. What is so glorious about defeating an enemy who himself wants to be defeated. 4. Too much dependence on current affairs. Even though Ramayan is mythology. We Indians subconsciously believe it to be our history and hence true events. Ramchandra series uses way too many current affair influences like Jallikattu , Sabrimala temple case, Nirbhaya case, Pandemic in lanka etc. Reading the above makes you believe that the story indeed is a work of fiction which has been written while watching a News channel. It directly conflicts with your beliefs. 5. The character of Lakshman and Indrajit are half baked and their rivalry is not even close to what we have been taught and what we have known to believe. Other than Khumbhakarn (which is exceptionally written)every other character is underdeveloped. The book should be called Khumbhakarn : The saint brother of Raavan.
