I give it a lukewarm “fresh” rating. 3/5 stars. Poor character development. Awful, awful pacing. Overall, dark tone close to the book. It really just fell short of being horrifying. The movie was slow, which isn’t bad but the ending was jarringly rushed and safe. I am pretty sure they thought they were delivering a reslly scary experience but they failed miserably at that. The pros are the acting, consistent tone, and a few decent scares.
