Nolan Friend – Google

I played the original Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door two years ago on Wii after buying it second hand off of ebay. It was an awesome experience, and after my first playthrough I immediately started a second self imposed hard mode playthrough which was equally amazing. Well, the announcement of the remake was no doubt a welcome one and I can confidently say this remake is top notch. The upgraded visuals are a perfect balance of new and old, the new content is fun adding two new super bosses along with PLENTY of new music and remixes. If you are a parent of a kid with a switch, this is a must buy. The only issues are some changed dialogue some for the better like the typo at the end of the game, and some for the worse that comes off as censorship. However all that is very minor, and blink and you will miss it. The other thing is it run at 30 frames per second with is less than the 60 the GameCube version had. But to that I say, welcome to the Switch. The graphics are so much stronger, and it's running on a under powered console so this is just what was going to happen. But honestly it isn't even really an issue, the game looks and runs great. So yeah, this is probably my favorite game of all time now. 5/5.

My favorite Pokemon games, not that this is relevant in 2022 but hey I just want to talk about these games. Yeah, the pacing is kinda annoying, but only upon replaying the games did the tutorials annoy me. The first time through I was just enjoying the story. Other than that I have no issues. The story is easily one of the best, the Pokemon introduced are super charming and I love the slight art style change they made, everything looks rounder. The characters are really fun in my opinion, Lillie being one of my personal favorite characters in a Pokemon game. The music (as always), was phenomenal. While the routes are kinda linear, I feel like there were a lot of little extra side quests that you could find if you took the time to look. Also, these are islands and this is the 3ds, of course they were going to be more linear. I think this game has had the best character customization in any Pokemon game. Shiny hunting was fun in this gen thanks to the SOS method, and this game having some awesome shiny pokemon. I just get nostalgic playing this gen, Ultra or base Sun and Moon. These weren't my first Pokemon games either, so it's not just me holding onto my first games. In the end I just love Alola.
