The women’s costumes might be ok but the military uniforms are all wrong! Franz Joseph always wore the uniform of a lieutenant namely a light blue tunic with black trousers which had a red strilpe along both legs. This was definitely the uniform worn in his later years from day to day. In the earlier part of his reign which includes the period of these two series he would have worn the uniform of an Austrian fieldmarshal namely a white tunic and a bright red trousers. The accompanying officers would also have worn Austrian military uniforms.The uniforms in the series look very much like Prussian uniforms- they certainly are not Austrian. Maximilian either wore a dark suit with waistcoat or an Austrian naval uniform.

For a 12 rated film four letter words used. I doubt whether Ewan Montague or the Admiral would have used such language so why include it in the film? Films today must have foul language included at some time. Personally The Man who Never Was made in 1956 had a much better story line.
