"American Son" to me, was a well written script, executed with precision, by a grand sum of 4 skillful and committed artists. An excessive amount of bashing, fighting, insulting and disparaging between wife and estranged husband, but there is some much needed history and hidden details within their heated and dramatic exchanges, which enlighten us as to why their combative and hostile communications exist. Wife harbors a lot of deep pain, anger, fear and frustration, from current and past relationships with the key males in her life. But she so desperately seeks acceptance, loyalty, forgiveness, friendship and L❤ ve. She is not hopeless. Husband/Father is accurate on many points, but needs to learn to be a better listener, and open his mental perspective on life a lot more. He is not a throw away either. He a sharp and admirable man. They can salvage their relationship and love each other again, more abundantly than ever, with commitment and couples therapy. And boy oh boy, they NEED it now. This movie, imo, is definitely worth a look. There are life lessons and treats for you, hidden within the script. Enjoy!
