SPOILER ALERTS: I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the beginning of the show (First 2 of episodes). I got hooked on the advertising of the show and the lines from the campsite. But as the show went on, I noticed a few uncomfortable things: Kristen Bell playing a young 30 something? Talking about guys and relationships like they are just short flings and normal, and using it as fodder for her podcasts? Another podcasts setting. Also trying Lesbianism like it's just something you do like buying a pair of sneakers because it looks nice, but realize that it is not comfortable and doesn't really fit well? Treating Judaism with almost mockery (and I am not a Jew). Noah on a rebound relationship that sounds like what Rabbis seem do with regularity? And lastly (though I could mention more), making Noah doubt his faith and his dream of being a Rabbi that he had since he was a kid? Joanne (Bell) is the type of character that would hook up with someone new the very next day from the shuttle ride and use it in her podcasts. The supporting cast was okay, except for the annoying spineless brother.

Watched it for the horses. Pity there wasn’t more racing. I love it when a horse makes a comeback, and gets a deserved win. The human side of it was disappointing. How many chances can one person (Kris) get to put her life together, and never really appreciated the opportunity. The only good thing about watching the entire first season, is that you get to follow the story lines you choose to in future seasons. Trusting a new boyfriend with the entire Breeders Cup winnings is a far stretch. In her own nice/wicked way, Dani was the person I didn’t mind following from season 2 onwards.

I love shows that focus on rescue. That is the main reason I chose to watch till the end of season one. The good thing is that you can focus on the sub plots that you want to follow and fast forward the ones you don’t. Season 1 finale was an anti climax. For someone who goes through so much to prove himself worthy of parole and reform, and willingly and sacrificially go back to prison in the end of season one, makes no sense. Unless like all series, the writing was already focused on season 2. The most amazing thing about the whole show though is how a little town like this can have such a high number of matching kidney donors. Defies the odds.
