I avoid making negative reviews about anything but in this case I’ll make an exception. Algorithm or allegory, we sat through it all night waiting and trying to find something worthwhile. It was like a sinking ship or burning building movie where the cast of characters are thrown together and now trapped so that their disparate personalities are squeezed out in desperate situations. Somehow it all felt contrived and I just didn’t care. Sandra Bullock was very intense but it came across as make believe. All fiction and si-fi is make believe but this felt like it. Like Sharknado, a B movie that was camp, Birdbox was filled with A listers in a B story filled with gratuitous gore.
