If I could describe this movie in one word it would be disappointing.
The cartoon is a master piece and the movie has butchered its reputation and honour. For starters the actors don’t know how to act, the director must be high if he thinks the dialogue was good and the name pronunciation was ghastly. Uncle Iroh was turned into ee-roh and sakka was turned into sock-a, Anng was turned into something I can’t even say.
To add to my review, the story line makes absolutely zero sense what so ever. The cartoons story was smooth and made sense but the movie’s story was muddle up, completely different scenes were added that were not in the cartoon (which would have been fine if you could understand what was going on). I understand why the writers had to squish the story together, because it would have been a really long movie if they hadn’t but that’s what a part two is for.
Moving on from the story line, the characters just seemed off. Their attitudes were completely different from the original. Uncle Iroh was not as understanding and spiritual as he was in the animated series. Anng was very timid in the movie where as in the series, he was more of a playful child.
Another point is how morbidly awful the movie’s animations are. The rocks where at a grandma’s pace. It looks like the rock were made by an arthritic person and - though in related to the animation - the fire benders have to have a source of fire to bend. In the original series, they could make it from thing air because of the suns energy.
Now let’s go back for a moment to the story. There are so many people, scenes and items that were relevant to the plot that weren’t in the movie. Over all this movie is a real let down for Avatar the last air bender fans such as myself.
I highly do not recommend this movie, I was punching the air 5 minutes into it!
